What do you carry in the gallery and is everything on the web site?

All items in the two galleries and on our web site are handmade.  We carry work by hundreds of artists throughout the United States and the world in a variety of media including ceramics, glass, wood, metal, leather, jewelry, and textiles.  We also carry a wide array of Judaica, furniture, accessories, mobiles, and kaleidoscopes and an extensive collection of imported items from Africa, Asia, and Central America.
Because our selection is so eclectic and vast, it is impossible for all of it to be on our web site or even on display in the gallery at any particular time so we are constantly rotating our pieces.  If you don’t see something you are looking for, be sure to ask us and we will try to find it for you.

Where are the galleries located?  Where can I  park?

We have two galleries on Main Street in downtown Ann Arbor, Michigan, both on the same block. The first is at 335 S. Main Street and it specializes in contemporary American art glass and hand crafted jewelry.  The second location is at 301 S. Main Street (the corner of  Main and Liberty) and it features ceramics, wood, ethnic jewelry, textiles and wearable accessories as well as mixed media and imported folk art.  Both galleries are handicapped accessible.  They are easily accessible from all major freeways.  Get Directions
Parking is often available on the street, however we validate parking in the adjacent Parking Structure on Fourth and Williams for customers who make purchases.

What are the hours of the gallery?

Selo/Shevel Gallery is open Monday through Saturday from 11am to 7pm, and Sunday from Noon to 5pm.
Our web site is open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

What is the price range of items in the gallery?

The pieces in the galleries range from just a few dollars to several thousand dollars, depending on the nature of the item.  We want to present items that will please someone who is just beginning to buy hand crafted work as well as the serious collector.   All  of our customers are important to us and  we extend the same level of service, regardless of how much the item costs.


Can I return items that I don’t want or need?

You may return any items that you don’t want for online or store credit, in  exchange for other merchandise,  or a gift certificate.  A return authorization number is required for all returns and may be obtained by calling or emailing the gallery.  Returns received without an RA number will not be accepted.  The return must be made within sixty days of purchase. Items must be repacked  carefully in the same manner as it was sent to you  and you must initiate shipping it back to us fully insured for the valued price within 3 days of  receiving the Return Authorization number.  Items returned damaged due to inadequate packing with not be credited or exchanged.  And shipping and handling charges are not refunded.  

If you received a gift that you do not want or need, you can return it to the gallery for online or store credit, exchange or a gift certificate.  There are no cash or credit card refunds for gifts.

With online purchases, refunds are available by requesting a Return Authorization number within 7 days of the receipt of the merchandise.  The UPS tracking system is used to determine when the shipment was received.  Returns received without prior authorization will not be accepted.   As mentioned earlier the returns must be fully insured and in their original condition and shipping and handling charges will not be refunded. You must initiate shipping it to us fully insured for the valued price within 3 days of  receiving the Return Authorization number.

Can I try items in my home and then return them?

With authorization, we allow customers to take selected items  from the gallery for a 24 hour approval period.   Upon return of the item or items in original condition, we offer a complete refund for the purchase.

If I send a gift to someone, can they exchange or return it?

With every gift purchased from our galleries or on line, we insert an exchange card which is coded with the date of purchase, the sales receipt number and the artist.  This enables the recipient to exchange merchandise without having to notify the purchaser.  This card is always contained within the gift box unless the purchaser requests otherwise.  Unwanted gifts must be returned to the gallery within sixty days from the date the item was purchased, accompanied by the exchange card within the original box.  Gifts must be in their original, undamaged condition.  The recipient will be given store credit or a gift certificate which can be used on line or in either of our galleries at any time.  There is no time limit on its use.  There are no cash or credit refunds on gifts.

Do you ship outside the United States?

At the present time, we do not.

How is sales tax calculated?

There is no sales tax collected on orders placed from outside of Michigan or on orders placed by customers who live outside of Michigan and have the merchandise shipped to them outside of Michigan.  However for any items ordered within Michigan and shipped within Michigan, there is a 6% sales tax on the item and the shipping charge. For items ordered within Michigan and shipped to someone other than the purchaser outside of Michigan, there is a 6% sales tax on the item and the shipping.

What shipping options are available?

We ship via UPS and USPS.  If not otherwise requested, we use UPS Ground Trac for delivery to all locations in the United States.  We also offer 3 Day,  2 Day,  Next Day, and Overnight delivery options.    

For large furniture and artifacts, we can arrange for trucking and other freight delivery services for you.

Do you have Gift Certificates?

Yes, we have gift certificates available in any amount.  They can be used in either of our galleries or on line and there is no expiration date on their use.

Do you have a Gift Registry?

Yes, we do and it can also be done online.

What types of Payment do you accept?

We accept Visa, Master Card, Discover, American Express, and Diner’s Club as well as checks and cash.

Do you offer Layaway?

Yes, we do on most items.  We ask for one third of cost as a nonrefundable deposit and the balance must be paid within three months.

Do you do Custom Orders?

We are sometimes  able to order variations of the items we show online or in the gallery from the artists;. we also can often custom order jewelry in different sizes or stones;  we certainly will make every effort to fulfill special requests when possible.  All special orders require a nonrefundable down payment of half of the cost of the item.

How can I check the status of an order?  How will I know when my package will arrive?

Most of the items on our web site are available for immediate shipment and upon processing your order, we will give you  a UPS tracking number so that you can track the progress of your package.  If there are any delays in shipping for any reason, we will contact you and let you know the approximate date of delivery.

What do I do if something arrives damaged?

If anything in your shipment arrives broken or damaged, please do the following:
Save all the  packaging, including the outside carton.
Email us at seloshevel@earthlink.net or call us at 1-866-CRAFT-ART  (1-866)272-3827 to let us know what happened.
We will make the UPS insurance claim for you and do everything we can to replace your merchandise as quickly as possible.  It may be necessary for UPS to inspect your package so be sure to save all of the packing materials so they can pick them up.

Is it safe to use my credit card on line?
 
Throughout the entire shopping experience you are protected by our guarantee of confidentiality and privacy.  Once you enter the Check out process (when you are ready to purchase the items you have put into your Shopping Cart)  your connection to our server becomes secure.  Throughout this process, your personal and credit card information is protected by Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) technology through Verisign Payflow.

Are all the pieces in the gallery one of a kind?

No,  while we have a large number of one of a kind pieces, we also carry limited editions and production items by our artists.   Thus, many of the items are able to be reordered even if they are not immediately available.
